Applications Open for Spring 2027 Sustainability Scholars Research Awards

The University of Florida Sustainability Studies Program is accepting applications for the Spring 2027 Sustainability Scholars Research Award, which provides $750 to support undergraduate sustainability research.

The award is open to UF undergraduate students in all majors conducting sustainability-related research. Awards support projects across two broad areas: Biophysical Sciences and Humanities and Social Sciences.

To be eligible, applicants must not earn their bachelor’s degree before Spring 2027. Students who accept an award must enroll in a 0–3 credit research course during Spring 2027 and present their research at the Spring 2027 CAIRES Symposium.

Submit a typed summary of your proposed research project, maximum 500 words.

Tips on Writing a Research Proposal for the Sustainability Scholars Research Award

Submit a letter of support from a faculty mentor confirming their willingness to supervise the project and providing any additional information that may help the selection committee evaluate your proposal.

Faculty mentors who prefer to submit their letters separately may email them directly to Dr. Anna Peterson at annap@ufl.edu and Dr. Glen Billesbach at gbillesbach@ufl.edu.

Applications and supporting materials are due Wednesday, November 4, 2026. Applicants will be notified by December 1, 2026, if they have been selected.
